Last August when we were really getting serious about making a run at Joobili this article appeared in The Guardian: http://www.guardian.co.uk/travel/2007/aug/25/saturday.fivebest
The author, Sean Dodson, complains that he was looking for a “simple application that told you when to go where. But we’ve scoured the net and we can’t quite find one anywhere.” All I can say to you Sean is that we know your frustration, and Joobili is coming to the rescue.
The article further points out the problems with the few calendar based travel guides that do exist. You end up getting recommendations like going to the Loire Valley in October because the weather is mild and it is less crowded. Weather and crowds. Weather and crowds. To me that’s common sense, not travel inspiration. I want to know when something truly unique is happening in the Loire Valley, something 95% of other visitors will never experience because their timing was off. I want to come home with a cool travel story, and saying “we had great weather and no crowds” just isn’t a compelling enough story.
