I would like to give everyone a quick update on some of the site performance issues we’re working through. The site is pretty slow on Internet Explorer 7 and it sucks on IE 6. Thankfully IE is losing marketshare, but it’s still used by 40% of the population. So what’s the problem? The site is getting weighted down for two reasons: we use a lot of images and we use a lot of javascript. These things make the site look good and function well, but a cool site that never loads doesn’t do much good. Very few people are having trouble using Firefox, Safari or Chrome (but let us know if you are). The images are an easier problem to tackle so we are starting there. Eventually we’ll also need to boost our server capabilities as well since Budapest isn’t exactly at the center of the information superhighway.

So, that was a medium-long way of saying we are aware of it, we are working on it, we need your help to isolate the problem and test the site, and we appreciate your patience and feedback.
