Today was my second day at the Travel Technology Show. The show was less interesting for Joobili, but I met some great people . I had a nice chat with James from WorldReviewer who might be interested in including some of Joobili’s festival content on his site. Hugo from Howzat media gave a seminar featuring his 5 tips for start-ups. The list was mostly what you’d expect, i.e. be passionate, build a good team, don’t be afraid to make mistakes, etc….but one comment caught my attention: don’t be overly eager to take on funding. In his opinion, funding can take the focus away from the customer. I also met with Rachel from Zoombu.co.uk, a start-up with a great idea (and hopefully a good solution) for searching air, train, and car transportation all in one place. I think people would be surprised to see how much cheaper and faster trains can be by the time you spend 3 hours in line at the airport. Zoombu will enter into private beta in the Spring so we’ll keep an eye on them. Lastly, it is always a pleasure to catch up with Ben from Tourdust. I’ve got much more to share, but it has been a long couple days and let’s be honest, I don’t feel like writing any more. More later.
